Changing Perspectives. Driving Climate Action.
We envision a Somalia where environmental awareness becomes part of everyday public understanding and community decision-making. GMI works to bridge the gap between science, media, policy, and communities by transforming complex climate and environmental issues into stories, conversations, and actions people can understand and relate to. Across Somalia, many communities experience the impacts of climate change, including droughts, floods, environmental degradation, and loss of livelihoods, often viewing them as unavoidable natural events rather than challenges that require preparedness, adaptation, and long-term resilience.
Through media, research, advocacy, training, and community engagement, GMI promotes climate awareness, early warning understanding, climate-smart adaptation, clean energy solutions, and sustainable technologies that help communities become
more resilient and less vulnerable to climate crises. We work to empower farmers, pastoralists, fisherfolk, youth, and vulnerable communities to take proactive action and contribute to building a greener, more climate-conscious, and sustainable Somalia.
